Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band – Gorilla (Vinyl LP, Liberty Records, 1968) – EX/EX ska Butch Warren (bass) and BillyA landmark of British underground pop, blending psychedelic rock, music hall satire and absurdist humour at the height of the late 60s counterculture. The record moves effortlessly between sharp parody, surreal storytelling and surprisingly tight musicianship, capturing the Bonzos at their most inventive and anarchic. A genuinely distinctive UK album that still sounds bold, playful and completely unlike anything else of its era.
